Certification
A LiveAble Homes Certification guarantees that the design and features of a certified home will accommodate all physical abilities, reducing the need for costly modifications in the future.
The LiveAble Home Certification is much more than ADA compliance. We utilize standard US and international residential building codes to ensure that at minimum, every feature both inside and out of a home is safe for anyone who visits.
Done well, Accessible Design becomes a virtually invisible element that allows any person living in or visiting the home to feel welcomed and comfortable.
LiveAble Homes certification is a searchable field in the RMLS system.
Why should you certify your home?
Certifying with LiveAble Homes gives your home an edge in today’s market. With more buyers seeking homes designed for aging-in-place or multi-generational living, certification signals that a property is future-ready, inclusive, and marketable—helping you sell faster and attract a wider pool of buyers. For builders and remodelers, certification showcases your commitment to accessible, forward-thinking design and sets your projects apart in a competitive marketplace, making them more appealing to both homeowners and real estate professionals.
Level One
-
The home is “visitable” for all guests: a person in a wheelchair can easily access the main entertainment area, a half bathroom at minimum, and the hall leading to that bathroom.
Level Two
-
The central living floor is fully accessible. A person in a wheelchair can perform all personal and housekeeping functions in this area.
Level Three
-
The home has been customized for personalized accessibility. Specific features will be listed on the certificate. Level 3 homes must pass Level 1 and 2 certifications, plus have at least one custom feature (like an elevator, custom lift or ramps).
